Development

I like the theme of 'Saturday Mass' and the opportunities it can give to produce pieces which have an approach to a theme which is outside of the obvious realm of Larry Levan and Hunee, and the contradiction between clubbing culture and going to mass at church; but I also like the aesthetic of the futuristic coded approach to some of my work.

I wanted to merge these two ideas, so I started with some simple images which presented a sort of futuristic coded theme.

The fall of the columns layered over a high rise background with the disintegrating type, gave an unfamiliar digital feel compared to my previous works.

This was my favourite experiment of the lot, I felt it had a really interesting form. The coding like background intertwining with the black bristle, spiny circles almost looked like a virus infecting a system or something being corrupted from it's original purpose.

This piece was actually derived from an image of some commune bread, which I edited to create an image which could be transfered onto a screen print simply.

I feel that this follows my 'Saturday Mass' theme of contradiction with the use of the commune bread, while keeping that futuristic coded aesthetic I want.
