Mr Fingers 

Labelled as the 'Godfather or House', Larry Heard invented the genre after his releasing his first track 'can you feel it'. Heards 2nd album 'introduction' fingers is described as being a piece which is dreamy and has an heavy influence of jazz and soul. 

Introduction is a simple album cover that consists of a blue printed background, with his name and album title printed at the top, with a reference to his name at the bottom through a 2 separate pictures split into 5 columns, 4 of them being of fingers playing a keyboard and, and one full body shot of him operating the keyboard. 

This metaphor to his name through the imagery on the album cover could be something I replicate in my cover for either 'Hunee' or 'Larry Levan'. This metaphor could also be related to their style of mixing/djing, as Larry Levan tends to have longer sets (up to 15 hours) than the more new school Hunee. Although Hunee has a faster more electronic influenced style, which could be presented through a more digital approach to his design, whereas a Larry Levan cover would be approached in an analogue method. 

His most recent album, Cerebral Hemisphere has been described as being a culmination of all his previous works he's made as Larry Heard. From the deep vocal tracks on 'Love Arrival LP', to Sci-Fi sounding 'Alien', and the two personality driven albums he released as Mr Fingers. 

This album covers aesthetic has a heavy acid house influence. The overlaying of shapes over imagery is a process which could created using an analogue process such as mono printing or through simply printing over the image using objects.

This cover style could be replicated using screenprinting. The patchy disolved style used to created texture and a more life like look to the hair and the hair in this could be produced by printing ink onto the canvas using a sponge before putting it in the the light box.

Interesting typeforms made from a simple grid system. Varying widths and heights of grids could be used in a similar style to this album, creating a form/cover which translates different information about the genre and the artist
