Yellow Vests - Theory Behind The Movement: 

• Grass routes movement with no central leadership initialy aimed at targeted against fuel taxes  
• Theres no message to be spun on the group by the media 
• Could go anywhere - makes big corporations unhappy - so they don't want to provide coverage on the group 
• Protest started because of overtaxing, disappearing middle class, lack of upward mobility, 
• Dubbed as 'The President of the rich' by political opposition 
• Opponents on the left and right are trying to gain support of yellow vests. 
• Left - By speaking on the need to priorities climate and social injustice. 
• Right - By saying immigration is the source of Frances problems 
• Macron replied with letter stating "For me no questions are off limits"

Media 

• Media doesn't want to cover this because of the underlying problems of overtaxing, disappearing middle class, lack of upward mobility; which are concurrent around the world
• Yellow vests describe the french media as dishonest - they show pictures of violence and portray the movement as holy and completely violent as opposed to seeking answers to change things 
• Police violence not portrayed in media - similar to black lives matter movement 

Support 

• Guy protesting brexit outside houses of parliament wearing yellow vest to display his anger through a passive but physical form  - show of unity to the troubles in France 
• Hundreds of British people put on high-visibility jackets in imitation of French protesters as they marched in central London against government cuts
