Image + Type
Imagery from the French revolution (1800's) of French flag being raised after victory. Overlaid on typeface made from florescent jacket
Review - Work on
- Needs a statement to explain the theme - a statement from Macron or spokesperson from yellow vests
- Scan in yellow vest for texture of background
- Image from renaissance could show more of the flag
- 'Divided & Conquered' to represent the left and right fighting.
Image
Based on the disappearing middle class in France, one of the main reasons for the recent yellow vest protests. Taken from imagery from some of the riots; presented as bars on chart seperating from one another and fading away.
Review - Work on
- Why do the bars end on the right?
- Interesting composition but not clear what its trying to communicate - imagery could clearer/more obvious (renaissance or protest or politician)
- Could play on the idea that it't not easy to understand - the theme of there being no central leadership - theres no link to follow the poster to a point like there's no figure head to pin the yellow vest protests on.
- Use a QR code to take the image back to the original graph
Type
Inspired from imagery taken from posters of police brutality in the riots. The typeface is made from images taken of a a florescent yellow vest, which was skewed and twisted to form letters.
Review - Work on
- Text is hard to read because the yellow vests are struggling to get their message across to the already established powers
- Yellow vest printed on bright paper (glossy, neon)
