Critique 

Read blogs - all initial ideas and research on there (developments in theory atm - based on research in blogs) 

Theme - Based on Google Maps 

Potential outcomes:

* Areas of google maps that haven't been mapped - map these
* Glitches on Google maps
* Look for how parts have changed in real life compared to maps - In Leeds (more relatable than rice fields on google maps) - gardens, cars etc. pixelate these to show difference
* Map the glitchy part of street view images on maps (corner of shots)
* Emblems/logos could be on strip of colour paper - animate
* wrong postcode - when you get sent to the wrong location - map these
* Military bases, celebrity homes - blurred out on G-maps

Idea 1 

Screenshots taken from map generator. These close ups will be used to grid a grid/mapping system. The aim will be to create a new set of grid systems based on geographical locations from around the world.

Distorted imagery of screenshots taken from map generator and of sketches taken of the maps (grids)

Idea 3 

Typeface for made from symbols/markings found in google random generator.

Development 1 - Game

Game - two players -  using the symbols taken from the google maps screenshot- show them what symbols represent (fire, water) - both players use these symbols to make a monster - each player looses the ability they use after each use - 5 rounds - person with least monster looses

Development 2 - Holdback sex worker zone

Based on a  mapping system of the construction taken place in Boston. This map would mark all the areas were business is falling behind in Leeds and where infrastructure is troubling for the local population (holdback leeds - legal sex worker zone)

Devilment 3 - significant + insignificant super graphic 

Collage of significant and insignificant places in leeds and present as a super-graphic

Development 4 - distorted imagery from google maps in video/igiff

A video of distorted landscapes from around google maps with electronic jarring sounds/music played over and symbols taken from google maps sketches overplayed on top of video in fast flashing aesthetic

Development 5 - Fabric/screen print 

Distorted scans from google maps replicated on fabric or screen print

Feedback 

• clever use of typeface made from map (idea 3)
• Loads of research whihc is good - remember to link back when making decisions for ideas 
• a lot of variation - massive workload considering time on brief 
• could try variation of ideas as they were all based on the literal idea of a map. could you test this by testing the idea of a map. WHAT IS A MAP? 
• distorte imagery variation is viusally striking - this would look good animated or glitched 
• The symbolism would work well with screenprinting 
• print more for sketchbook 
• imagery is really nice could use the fields and that grid system for an idea
